Why EasyKiya Is Betting on Festival Pre-Booking Instead of Last-Minute Shopping
Anyone who has tried shopping for a major Indian festival at the last minute knows how different the experience can be from an ordinary day.
Demand suddenly rises. Popular flowers become harder to find. Puja materials sell quickly. Local prices can change with availability. A family that simply wants to complete its puja may end up spending time searching for basic items.
EasyKiya is building a festival pre-booking model around this problem.
The idea is to let customers plan their flower and puja requirements before the festival rush and schedule delivery for the date they actually need them.
The model can be used for Ganesh Chaturthi, Durga Puja, Diwali, Chhath Puja, Satyanarayan Puja, Griha Pravesh, Karwa Chauth, Janmashtami, Holi and other regional or family occasions.
For customers, the attraction is planning. For the business, advance bookings provide visibility into upcoming demand, making it easier to plan sourcing, packing and local delivery.
EasyKiya is also looking at the price problem that can come with last-minute buying. Its pre-booking proposition is designed around booking at the applicable price at the time of advance booking, subject to the company’s product-specific terms.
The company is applying the same principle to puja kits.
Instead of waiting until the festival morning to find individual items, customers can select a curated kit based on the occasion. A Ganesh Chaturthi requirement, for example, can be planned differently from a Diwali or Satyanarayan Puja requirement.
Fresh flowers are still central to the model. EasyKiya offers daily flower subscriptions from around ₹20 per day and is working towards cotton-bag packaging for fresh puja flowers.
There is also a post-puja component. Subscribers can use the company’s planned next-day Nirmalya pickup service, creating a more complete journey from booking to delivery to collection.
The idea is not complicated: festival shopping becomes easier when it starts before the festival.
For a company building a spiritual commerce platform, pre-booking is less about creating urgency and more about reducing it.
Achievement & Startup Journey
EasyKiya’s festival pre-booking idea has been shaped alongside a broader startup journey that has put the company in front of mentors, investors, juries and entrepreneurship communities.
The startup reached the Top 48 from thousands of applications in a TV funding reality-show journey and was featured in Future in Screen Episode 6. It also received an achievement certificate from Ideabaaz Startup at Bharat Mandapam, Delhi.
At K J Somaiya College, Vidya Vihar, Mumbai, EasyKiya became the First Runner-Up after its final startup pitch before the jury. The company has also been part of startup and innovation environments connected with IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Allahabad, IIT Kanpur and MNNIT Prayagraj.
A podcast conversation with Bashesh Gala, a business mentor, investor and business coach, provided another opportunity to discuss the practical side of building the company.
For EasyKiya, these achievements connect directly with the way the company approaches festivals: plan early, listen carefully, prepare properly and keep improving. The same mindset that helps a startup prepare for a pitch can also help it prepare a supply chain for a festival.
